WAPAKONETA, OH– Westchester Plastics—a leader in custom plastic compounding—announces that an additional Werner & Pfleiderer ZSK 70mm twin-screw extruder has been installed at its Wapakoneta facility, and trials are in progress for machine qualification of the new product line.
The extruder is 9 barrel (36:1 L/D) 200 Hp, with 410 RPM capability. It is equipped with liquid feed and five solid feeders plus a twin screw side feeder and is supported by a water bath and strand pelletizer. The new equipment supports production runs from 1,000 to 80,000 pounds.
"The additional capacity gives us greater flexibility in meeting the compound needs of our customers, especially with the variety of filler and additive packages associated with today’s high-performance engineering resins," notes Larry Hayward, Vice President and General Manager of AMETEK Chemical Products.
